Lymphoedema Week - March 2 - 8, 2026
Lymphoedema Week - March 2 - 8, 2026

Lymphoedema Awareness Week runs from 2–8 March 2026, providing an important opportunity to increase understanding of a condition that affects thousands of Australians and many more worldwide.

At ChezLeon, we believe comfort, dignity, and informed care should never be compromised. That is why we are proud to support Lymphoedema Awareness Week and stand alongside the broader lymphatic community in raising visibility and understanding.

Understanding Lymphoedema

Lymphoedema is a chronic condition involving swelling caused by a compromised lymphatic system. It may develop following cancer treatment, surgery, trauma, or as a primary condition.

For many people, it requires lifelong management and careful, individualised care. Beyond the physical symptoms, lymphoedema can impact mobility, emotional wellbeing, body confidence, and overall quality of life.

Awareness is not simply about visibility — it is about understanding, support, and informed conversations.

This March, we have a unique opportunity to make a change. By participating in national events, we can move lymphoedema from the shadows into the spotlight.

Get Involved: "Shine a Light on Lymphoedema"

One of the primary national awareness initiatives is Shine a Light on Lymphoedema,

Throughout the week, iconic landmarks across Australia will glow in blue and teal — the recognised colours of lymphoedema awareness — helping spark conversation and community support.

We encourage our Chezleon community to get involved! If you live near one of these locations, take a moment to visit, snap a photo, and share it on social media using the hashtags #ShineALightOnLymphoedema and #ChezleonSupports

Here are just a few of the landmarks lighting up for Lymphoedema Awareness Week (2–8 March):

  • Queensland: Brisbane's Story Bridge and Kangaroo Point Bridge, The Old Parliament House, and the Qantas Founders Museum.

  • New South Wales: The Big Banana, Newcastle City Hall Clock Tower, and the Manly Town Hall.

  • Victoria: The Old Treasury Building, Bolte Bridge, and Box Hill Town Hall.

  • South Australia: Adelaide Town Hall and Parliament House.

  • Western Australia: The Bell Tower, Matagarup Bridge, and Elizabeth Quay.

  • Tasmania: Hobart's Tasman Bridge and the Launceston Town Hall.

  • Northern Territory: The Palmerston Water Tower and Library.

  • ACT: The National Museum of Australia.

Learn and Connect

Awareness is also about education. Throughout the week, the Australasian Lymphology Association (ALA) will be hosting professional learning events to share updated management strategies. For those wanting to understand more about patient care, Lymphoedema Education Solutions is hosting a relevant webinar on 5 March 2026 titled "Patient-Focused Engagement: Navigating Challenging Cases from Day One," which explores practical strategies for building trust and support.

Mark Your Calendar: The ALA Conference 2026

Looking ahead, the conversation doesn't stop after one week. The premier event on the calendar is the 16th ALA Conference, taking place in the beautiful setting of the Cairns Convention Centre from 30 April to 3 May 2026. Under the theme "Innovating lymphatic science and improving tomorrow's care," this conference brings together clinicians, researchers, and educators. It’s a vital event for advancing the standard of care for all Australians living with lymphatic conditions https://www.alaconference2026.com.au/

How ChezLeon Is Supporting Awareness

At ChezLeon, our contribution during Lymphoedema Awareness Week focuses on education and empowerment.

Throughout the week, we will be sharing practical information about lymphatic health, movement, and patient-centred support through our online resources and community channels. Our goal is to help individuals better understand their condition and feel confident discussing their care options with their health professionals.

We believe that informed patients are empowered patients
